UPCOMING: Book Talk in Columbia, SC

Friends, family, and coworkers in the Midlands of South Carolina, please join me for a free lecture and discussion about my new book, A History of the Baha'i Faith in South Carolina, published earlier this year by the History Press, at the Greater Columbia Baha'i Center this Saturday, November 16. The program starts at 7:00, and refreshments will be served. The Baha'i Center is located at 2020 Assembly St., near the intersection of Assembly and Elmwood.

I'll have plenty of copies of the book for sale and signing. They're $22 each (payable by cash, check, PayPal, or Venmo).

The book is a short (108 pp.), copiously illustrated (70+ images and maps) introduction to the first century of the Baha'i Faith in South Carolina, the only state in the country where it is the second-largest religious body. As Americans struggle with vital questions about who does and does not belong, how we understand our history, the nature of prosperity, and our visions of humanity's future, the experiences of the Baha'i community since the late 19th century deserve consideration. And with its long history of building interracial fellowship and reaching large numbers with a message of profound social change, the South Carolina Baha'i community stands out as particularly relevant.
